Early American policemen wore only a badge on their vest, which was covered by a coat. Generally, uniforms did not come into use until the mid-19th century. Originally, the uniforms were opposed by officers because they felt they were a sign of subjugation, and they would allow the criminal the opportunity to spot them first.

But the public insisted that they be worn because they felt the visibility of uniformed officers would discourage crime and make the officers easier for them to spot when needed. Now, law enforcement uniforms have become a source of pride in the profession, and a sign of power, authority and trust.

Liberty Classics has introduced our new line of police figures. Each 5" figure of the three figure set shows the significant transition in the development of a department's unifrom. The figures are mounted on a walnut finished wood base. A brass plaque details the department name and the year the uniform was first introduced.

The figures have been hand sculpted. Each casting is then hand finished with incredible detail. Just look at the badges! Like all Liberty Classic's products, these products have been thoroughly researched and the period uniformsn and badges are authentic. We hope you enjoy are new offering!
